The debate nowadays is Mirrorless vs DSLR. Many companies are setting foot in this mirrorless craze with the innovators being mainly Sony and Fujifilm . People still have the mindset that Mirrorless cameras are inferior to DSLRs but in reality it is not so. Why is there a lack of awareness? This is because big players like Nikon and Canon haven’t introduced professional mirrorless cameras.
Nikon has announced the Nikon 1 V3 mirrorless camera which offers enticing performance in a stylish and compact package.
It has got an 18.4 MP sensor which can record 1080p/60 fps and 720p@120 fps and a faster Image Processing Chip. It can shoot continuously at 20 pictures per second, which is one of the fastest. It has got a phase detection AF with 105 points. Nikon claims it’s AF system actually surpasses the one in most DSLRs. So, yeah, you can expect faster capture. It also has built in WiFi, for the social generation.
It also has got a 3 inch tilting LCD, useful for shooting in tricky positions. It debuts along with two new lenses : a 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-Zoom and 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 with a price tag of $300 and $1000 respectively. A full kit with the camera body, the 10-30 mm lens, viewfinder and grip will cost you $1200. A bit steep, isn’t it?
It is quite costly and the competition is fierce. The Sony RX100 Mark 2 has a higher res sensor, better lens and is even more compact.
