ASUS has been active at Computex, releasing lots of tablets, laptops and more hardware.
It has unveiled the ROG GR8 Gaming PC, which has an Intel i7 raging below coupled with an NVIDIA 750ti GPU, which ASUS reckons is a powerful enough combination for outputting 4K.
You have lots of options for connecting a Display to this beast: HDMI, Miracast, DisplayPort, anything. There are four USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ones. You also have Gigabit Ethernet and WiFi ac, covering all your connectivity needs.
It will ship with Windows 8.1, initially. It is compatible with Valve’s SteamOS and Steam Controller and when the first Steam Machines start shipping (A date which has been pushed back to 2015), ASUS will offer a variant of the ROG GR8 that runs SteamOS from the get go.
The concept of a Steam Machine is pretty attractive: It is sort of a middle ground between a PC and a Console. It offers a variety of options with power ranging from low to high, as per your needs. At the same time, it also offers a closely controlled ecosystem of games, a combination that works great.
