Blackberry announces new Porsche Design Smartphone

Blackberry trods on with a new Porsche Design Smartphone: Unbelievably Gorgeous, but Rotting On the Inside

Blackberry is a sinking ship, but that hasn’t stopped it from announcing a new Porsche Design Smartphone. And it doesn’t offer anything special. Oh, the nerve!

Blackberry has announced the very stupidly named Porsche Design  P’9983. It is essentially the guts of a Q10 repackaged into a new Body. It looks pretty damn good, but instead of clean rounded corners, Blackberry has gone with sharp shapely corners, which we suspect will hamper usability.

The keyboard has Glass-Keys, and it looks great, but we are worried about whether this means that they are Fragile.

Just Don’t ask how it is different from any other Q10 (Except for the Design). It has the same 1.5 GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm MSM8960 of the Q10. The same 3.1 Inch 720×720 Touchscreen, the same 2100mAH Battery. All you are getting is some UI Tweaks (Yay, new Wallpaper!) and a supposedly very coveted exclusive BBM Pin.

As Blackberry puts it:

“Be instantly recognizable amongst Porsche Design users. The Porsche Design P’9983 smartphone from BlackBerry provides an exclusive Porsche Design PIN ID group – 2AAXXXXX, which sets you apart and makes you instantly recognizable among other Porsche Design users.”.

If you are thinking “Wow I really need that new Wallpaper and BBM Pin and I have Money to waste”, go ahead Consider the new Porsche Design Smartphone (The name is too Complicated to Mention). But if you are thinking anything else, turn away. Porsche Design Smartphones are just poking fun at Humanity’s need to buy anything labelled Premium, even if it isn’t.

Pricing and Availability haven’t been announced, but they sure will be in the league of other Porsche Design Smartphones, which cost upwards of $2000.

What do you think of the new Porsche Design Smartphone? How ridiculous do you think it is?
