Android Wear currently only is a glorified Google Now Cards receiver, but it is about to get pumped up. Google has announced the latest Update for Android Wear, and it comes packed with features.
The first new thing is GPS Support. Currently Android Wear Smartwatches have to rely on your Smartphone for the GPS, but now Android Wear supports Wearables that come with one built in.
But don’t get too excited yet. The only Android Wear Smartwatch with inbuilt GPS is the Sony Smartwatch 3. For other Android Wear Smartwatches, this feature is useless.
Then comes support for offline Music Playback. Currently, Smartwatches can only control Music Playback on Smartphones, but now they can utilize their on-board Storage and play tunes from there.
But how will you hear it without a 3.5mm Headphone Jack? You will be able to hear them via Bluetooth Headphones.
Google’s latest Android Wear update will hit devices in the coming weeks. What do you think of the new Features? Are Smartwatches more useful? Are Android Wear Smartwatches evolving towards a Smartphone-Independent future?
