Report: A new Fire TV is in the works

Last year, Amazon announced the Fire TV, a small set top box for streaming from services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, and it was a huge success, topping sales lists across the year and giving a tough time to competitors like the Roku and the Apple TV.

Now that Apple has layed out its cards with it’s new Apple TV, it seems Amazon too is working on a new Fire TV according to a FCC Filing found by Dave Zatz.

It would have Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi ac, microSD Card support, an USB port along with an Ethernet port.  It is also rumored to pack in a 4K capable chipset, which would really shake things up, provided Amazon keeps it at a competitive price.

If Amazon is indeed working on a successor, it should announce it in the coming months, just in time for the holidays,

What do you think? Can Amazon’s streamer take on the competition?
