When you think about prominent websites on the Internet, you can’t forget Facebook. Not only does it have a large active userbase (over 1.5 billion), it also has access to the massive userbases of Whatsapp and Instagram.
Now, Facebook is improving its search option so that it can process data faster and more efficiently, and so that you can get the results you want when you want them.
Facebook says that it has indexed over 2 trillion posts, and according to its statistics, over 1 billions searches are performed each day.
The results will be tailored to you based on your browsing, engagement and posting habits. First you will get trending results, and then posts from your friends about your search, so that you can get a comprehensive view on the topic you searched for. Facebook says it doesn’t plan to monetize search right now, but we do foresee it happening in the future.
Facebook wants you spending as much time on Facebook as possible. Recently, it announced instant Articles, and now it is stepping up in terms of features for Facebook and its mobile apps.
What do you think? Afraid Facebook would surface something embarrassing, and perhaps even debilitating?
