Twitter has over 300 million users, but hasn’t managed to please  investors, because its growth rate has stalled and its existing users aren’t very active. It hasn’t figured out a way to monetize its userbas effectively.

Twitter has acquired several start ups in the advertising solutions space with the notable being AdGrok, Trendrr, MoPub in the past 3 years. In order to bolster & further embellish its offering Twitter has acquired NaMo media which will develop advertising solutions for app developers to generate more Clicks and thus more revenue for all stake holders comprising the marketers, ad publishers and users. NaMo will be merged with MoPub that the microblogging site acquired last September for over $ 350 Million

Twitter rolls out Facebook-esque redesign

Earlier this year, Twitter was testing out a major redesign on some accounts. The redesign looked like a lot like Facebook and it looks like it has finally been completed since Twitter has started rolling out the redesign.

However, the redesign has been cut down a bit and tweets are shown as a list, unlike the redesign that Twitter had been testing out (*Phew*).

Twitter swoops in and buys Cover, a context aware lockscreen replacement

Twitter has acquired Cover, an Android app that lets you to customize your lock-screen.

“Twitter, like Cover, believes in the incredible potential of Android. They share our vision that smartphones can be a lot smarter — more useful and more contextual — and together we’re going to make that happen,” Cover’s founders wrote in a blog post. “We’ll be building upon a lot of what makes Cover great, and we’re thrilled to create something even better at Twitter.”

Turkish Court orders lift of YouTube ban

Turkey recently banned two major social services: Twitter and YouTube, which to be frank are what people think of when they hear the word ‘Internet’.

Turkey blocks YouTube

Recently, there was public outrage due to Turkey blocking Twitter.  Turkey was basically mocked when people found workarounds and more than 17,000 tweets were being sent per minute AFTER the ban. The court’s ruling to ‘unban’ Twitter was the last straw.

Now, Turkey has got back in the game and has now blocked access to YouTube.
